“Sam” originally from Ocean City, NJ, joined the UMDNJ Wellness team bringing excitement for and experience in many areas of the health, fitness and wellness field. In May of 2006, she graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health Promotion. To complete her degree she participated in a 12-week intensive internship in Vermont at one of the oldest residential healthy lifestyle and weight management facilities for women in the United States. After completion of her internship and being hired, she remained there for 2 years, developing her skills and enjoyment for teaching group exercise, leading educational workshops, developing wellness programs and motivating and empowering each individual she came in contact with. Her group exercise experience ranges from teaching step aerobics and total body strength training, to core stability training and gentle yoga where her creativity and joy for educating others shines through and is contagious!

An outdoor enthusiast with a deep love for the mountains, Sam takes part in skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months and hiking throughout the spring and summer. Naturally curious, Sam is an explorer and has been skydiving, cliff jumping, white water rafting, is a certified SCUBA diver and regularly continues to seek new thrills.

Sam will begin her Master’s in Health Promotion Management through Rowan University beginning in the Fall of 2009, is interested in expanding her knowledge of yoga in hopes to lead all of her classes with a focus on the mind/body/spirit connection and looks forward to helping each and every client reach their individual healthy lifestyle goals.
